The 5th International Indigenous Voices in Social Work Conference will be held in Hualien, August 5-7, 2019.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Call for abstracts now open

Deadline for abstract submission March 15th, 2019, 4:30 PM (UTC/GMT +8 hours). You will receive your acceptance notice by email on Monday, March 25, 2019. Please keep your email information up-to-date to ensure receipt of acceptance.

  • Registration system will  open on Monday, March 25, 2019

Deadline for early-bird registration April 30th, 2019

Deadline for registration May 31st, 2019

Conference August 5th -7th , 2019

MAIN TOPICS

The main theme for the meeting is “Healing, Reconciliation and Transformation: Approaches Toward Promoting Indigenous Well-Being” Although all aspects of indigenous topics are welcome, this year we ́d particularly like to emphasis attention on the following topics:

  1. Healing and social work practice with individuals and families

  2. Restorative practice

  3. Community work and empowerment

  4. Indigenism and transition in social work education

  5. Indigenous based knowledge and research

  6. Decolonization and anti-marginalization

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The following information will be required for your submission:

  • Presenting author's contact details. Please ensure your e-mail address is correct as you will be notified by e-mail in the beginning of April if your abstract has been accepted.

  • Author and co-authors' brief biography

  • Affiliation details: department, institution, city, state (if relevant), country

  • Abstract text – limited to 300 words, single-spaced using 12-point Times New Roman font,image(s) and table(s) are not permitted in any abstract.

  • Abstracts should clearly state

    1. Purpose and Background:description of the problem, study objectives, research question(s) and/or hypothesis (es). 

    2. Material & Methods:study design, including a description of participants and sampling methods, data collection procedures, measures, and appropriate analytic/ statistical approach.

    3. Results:specific results in summary form.

    4. Conclusions& Implications:description of the main outcome(s) of the study and implications for practice, policy, or further research.

  • Abstracts will only be accepted by online submission. 

  • Presenting authors of abstracts must be registered participants.

  • The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission
