Taroko National Park

◆Introduction of Taroko National Park (Source:https://www.taroko.gov.tw/en/AboutThePark/Outline)

When Taroko National Park was established on November 28, l986, it was of special significance for the environmental protection movement in Taiwan: it showed that both the public and the government agencies had realized that against the background of the nation's four decades of extraordinary economic success, serious damage was being done to its natural resources. According to the National Park Act of the Republic of China (passed in l972), parks are established to protect the natural scenery, historic relics and wildlife; to conserve natural resources; and to facilitate scientific research and promote environmental education.

Taroko National Park, situated in the eastern part of the Taiwan and established on November 28, 1986, covers more than 92,000 hectares in the northern section of the Central Mountain Range. This park features high mountains and sheer gorges. Many of its peaks tower above 3,000m in elevation, with many natural wonders. The spectacular Taroko Gorge and the scenic beauty of Liwu River can be conveniently viewed from the Central Cross-Island Highway. The varied mountain peaks, numerous waterfalls, diverse plant forms and animal life, together with the indigenous Taroko people, create the rich texture of this unique natural ecosystem.

Chisingtan Scenic Area

With Chisingtan’s crystal clear waters on one side and majestic mountains off in the distance, it is a place where the mountains meet the sea and a truly mesmerizing crescent beach. Besides the awe-inspiring views, the scenic area also includes scenic trails, seaside pavilions, viewing tower, star-watching square and more, allowing all visitors to immerse themselves in the wide expanse of earth, ocean and sky.

Next to the Chisingtan beach is a sculpture park filled with exquisite stone installations, adding an artistic atmosphere to the gorgeous location. Feel the power of the seasonal northeastern winds when cycling down Chisingtan’s bikeway or, where it is safe, enjoy watching the magnificent, massive waves brought on by the monsoon.

As Hualien Airport is just next to Chisingtan, so with some luck, you might be able to spot military jets soaring overhead.

Tungtamen Night Market

Located in Hualien City’s 6th Redevelopment Zone, two horizontal roads and one vertical road surround the solar city: Futing Night Market Street, Street of Chinese Cuisines, and Street of Indigenous Cuisines. The over 400 food stands have helped increase the popularity of Hualien’s tourism with its spectacular snacks, games, and performances since the summer of 2015. When coming to Hualien, both the locals and tourists visit Tungtamen Night Market to try the various street dishes. Since the end of 2015, the Market has included Ziqiang Night Market. The 10-something food stands from Ziqiang Night Market have joined Tungtamen Night Market as the fourth block, following Futing Night Market Street, Street of Chinese Cuisines, and Street of Indigenous Cuisines. Many food stands are old stands that have long enjoyed great popularity in the Hualien district. These stands have helped attract more gourmets and loyal customers. We recommend you come to the Night Market on time and make the already lively Tungtamen Night Market even more vibrant.
